The New Georgia Project is taking voting rights and engagement into the 21st century with a brand new mobile app! Available on both Android and iOS, “The New Georgia Project Mobile App” allows you to find out which candidates and issues are on the ballot, what they stand for, and who funds their efforts.

The Mobile App

Designed in partnership with Atlanta development firm Mobile App Hero, the app provides you with a customized list of all candidates for office, curated using your actual (or chosen) location. For each candidate, you can instantly find out detailed information about where they stand on up to 15+ different categories, ranging from wages & job benefits to defense and veterans affairs.

In addition to learning the details about the candidates’ viewpoints, you can also see a list of all known endorsements a candidate receives. Within this list, there are direct links to each of the organization websites, providing you with an unfiltered look at who is funding your candidate.

Using all of this detailed information about the available candidates for office, users are able to create a list of their favorites, to be used as a reference when it’s time to vote! Never before has there been a more simple, straightforward way for voters to gain an understanding of the ballot before actually voting.

The New Georgia Project

The New Georgia Project is a non-profit, non-partisan organization founded to register and civically engage the rising electorate in the state of GA. Georgia’s population is growing and becoming increasingly diverse. Over the past decade, the population of Georgia has increased by 18%.

The New American Majority – people of color, those 18 to 29 years of age, and unmarried women – is a significant part of that growth. The New American Majority makes up 62% of the voting age population in Georgia, but they are only 53% of registered voters. Founded in 2014, NGP has been engaging, advocating for, and registering this diverse new group of voters.

Noticing the increasingly digital nature of our world, NGP decided that the best way to reach potential voters was via a mobile app. When the time came to seek out a development partner, NGP sought out the expertise of Atlanta-based development firm, Mobile App Hero. With over 20 years of experience providing solutions for Fortune-500 companies, the team at Mobile App Hero was a natural choice for this project.

The Developer

Mobile App Hero utilizes a consultative development process, consisting of 3-phases: Discovery, Design, Build. The first step in the development process is known as the Discovery Phase. This phase is mainly defined by extensive research into client requirements, user personas, available technology, 3rd-party data vendors, and many other factors. This provided the Mobile App Hero development team with the information necessary to design a mobile solution to inform voters and exceed client expectations.

Next, the Design Phase is where the technology met the vision. This part of the development process consisted of multiple iterations of each feature and design element within the entire project. Every part of the mobile app must be carefully considered and tested for the proper overall fit and function. A consistent, intuitive UX/UI design is an integral part of a properly designed mobile app.

With a detailed and well-informed design in place, the Build Phase began. It was during this phase that the mobile app was actually “built”. Using state-of-the-art development tools and industry best-practices, the experienced team of Atlanta-based software engineers at Mobile App Hero brought the New Georgia Project Mobile App to life.
